Abstract
Las causas de muerte en nuestro Departamento de Medicina no distan mucho de las causas nacionales, aún cuando las tasas no son comparables. Las enfermedades asociadas más frecuentes fueron: Arterieesclerosis generalizada — Diabetes Mellitus — Enfermedades pulmonares inflamatorias. La letalidad del año 70 ascendió en comparación con el de 1969. La prepondencia de los grupos etarios de más de 50 años fue evidente y las causas pudieran explicar este ascenso. El manejo institucional fue adecuado a juzgar por lo« resultados de la evaluación cualitativa de las H. C. La creación de unidades de tratamiento intensivo hará que en un futuro se profundice más en el análisis de los fallecidos que hoy clasificamos como “muertes no institucionales” (—48 horas). Se desprende que el tétanos es una prioridad epidemiológica de esta provincia, lo cual exige una labor conjunta y concreta entre la subdirec-ciones de Higiene y Epidemiología y Asistencia Médica y Docencia de nuestra provinciaDownloads
