La diabetes mellitus como factor de riesgo en la enfermedad cerebrovascular isquémica

Abstract

La diabetes mellitus como factor de riesgo en la enfermedad cerebrovascular isquémica.
Se hace un estudio de los pacientes ingresados por enfermedad cerebrovascular isquémica (ECVI) en el Hospital Provincial Docente "José Ramón López Tabrane" de Matanzas. Se encuentra que el 17,52 % de los pacientes tiene el antecedente de diabetes mellitus, al aplicar el test de X2 se encuentra una P<0,01. Se destaca que la mortalidad en el grupo de diabéticos fue similar a la del grupo de no diabéticos, con ECVI. La cifra de glicemia al ingreso incidió en la evolución de los pacientes sin antecedentes de diabetes mellitus, cuando ésta fue superior a 100 mg %, pero no en los que presentaban esta afección. Se concluye que no hubo diferencias en la mortalidad de los diabéticos que usaban o no insulina.
