Tratamiento a corto plazo de la hipertensión arterial esencial severa, resistente a otros tratamientos, con minoxidil. Experiencia en 14 pacientes

Abstract

Se presenta el estudio de la acción hipotensora de una nueva droga en nuestro medio, minoxidil, asociada con un bloqueador betaadrenérgico y un diurético, la que fue estudiada en 14 pacientes con hipertensión esencial grave refractaria a otras combinaciones de medicamentos. Se señala que 3 pacientes abandonaron el tratamiento durante el primer mes (a pesar de controlarse su presión arterial) por presentar epidemólisis tóxica medicamentosa, trasplante renal y disnea de causa no precisada, y 2 casos (mujeres), al final del segundo mes por hipertricosis. Se logró en todos los pacientes la reducción importante en las cifras tensionales que oscilaron entre 41 y 55 mm de Hg para la presión sistólica y de 31 a 49 mm de Hg para la presión diastólica en posición acostado o de pie. Otros efectos secundarios fueron de menor importancia. No se comprobó deterioro de la función renal o de otros parámetros funcionales o morfológicos.
