Valoración nutricional de pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica terminal al insuficiencia renal crónica

Abstract

La valoración nutricional de cualquier enfermo forma parte integral de su estudio clínico, más aún si se trata de un paciente con una enfermedad crónica. Especial importancia cobra en aquellos que padecen de una insuficiencia renal crónica terminal al comenzar planes de diálisis periódicas, ya que estos enfermos no sólo tienen una enfermedad crónica que cursa frecuentemente con una sintomatología digestiva florida (náuseas, vómitos), sino que como parte de su tratamiento médico conservador, se ven sometidos a restricciones proteicas importantes y aunque estas restricciones no deberían incluir la ingestión calórica, lamentablemente esta última también está disminuida en la mayoría de los pacientes. Es necesario un estado nutritivo adecuado para mantener la salud y mucho más importante es lograr una buena alimentación para recuperar la salud.
