Tratamiento de la cardiopatía isquémica. Importancia de la angioplastia coronaria (artículo de revisión, I parte)

Abstract

Se intenta de forma general y esquemática, actualizar el tratamiento de las dos for mas clínicas más frecuentes con que se expresa la cardiopatía isquémica (el infarto cardíaco agudo y las anginas inestables agudas). Se presta especial atención en la importancia de un nuevo proceder terapéutico que actualmente se emplea en el tratamiento de dichas formas clínicas, conocido con el nombre de dilatación intraarterial coronaria transluminal y perscutánea o angioplastia coronaria, el cual consiste como indica su nombre en la. dilatación de estas arterias en los sitios de estenosis, por medio de un sistema de catéter especial diseñado con tales fines, cuyos resultados parecen ser alentadores.
