Papel de los neuropéptidos morfinomiméticos en la patogenia de la esquizofrenia

Abstract

Se establecen las bases generales de la liberación, recepción e inactivación de ios neurotransmisores. Se estudia la localización de los receptores opiáceos y de los neuropéptidos morfinomiméticos que se fijan en ellos. Se establece que las endorfinas cerebrales son independientes de las endorfinas hipofisanas y periféricas. Se analizan tres interpretaciones hipotéticas acerca de la relación de endorfinas y esquizofrenia, 1) la enfermedad se debe a un exceso de endorfinas; 2) a endorfinas anormales; 3) a deficiencia de endorfinas, siendo esta última la que parece tener más razones a su favor, completada por la acción tronadora de la beta—endorfina sobre la transmisión dopami- nérgica. Los resultados obtenidos por los autores con el tratamiento heparínico se interpretan como un argumento más en apoyo de la tercera hipótesis. L 1982.
