Insulinomas. Presentación de un caso

Abstract

Se hace una revisión de los Ínsulinomas y se presenta el caso de una paciente portadora de uno de estos tumores que le producían hipoglicemias severas, dadas por manifestaciones psiquiátricas. Se constata una glicemia (Folin-Wu) de 30 mg % durante uno de sus ataques; fue estudiada e intervenida quirúrgicamente, en cuya intervención se le extirpa un insulinoma de 2,5 cm de diámetro. La paciente evoluciona satisfactoriamente, hasta que en el 12'? día del período posoperatorio fallece súbitamente; se estima que las causas de su muerte pudieran estar en relación con un daño previo de los vasos sanguíneos debido a la frecuencia e intensidad de las hipoglicemias.
