Estudio de la mortalidad por asma en Cuba

Abstract

Se estudiaron las tasas de mortalidad por asma desde 1945 a 1973 para el total de poblacion, grupos de edad y sexo. Se obtuvieron los volumenes de venta de broncodilatadores simpaticomimeticos en aerosol desde 1970 a 1973, comparandolas con la tasa de mortalidad en esos anos. Se estudiaron tambien las historias ch'nicas de fallecidos por asma en los hospitales regionales y provinciales del pais entre 1971 y 1974, analizando las edades, sexo, historia familiar, tipo de asma, medicamentos utilizados en los dias previos al ingreso, terapeu- ticas durante la estadia hospitalaria, complicaciones y necropsias. Se reviso la literatura in- ternacional sobre este aspecto y se comparan y discuten los resultados obtenidos con los re- portes publicados. Se establecen las conclusiones pertinentes y se acompanan cuadros, graficos de tendencias y bibliografia consultada.
