Abstract

Cuba, aun cuando su tasa de prevalencia permite clasificarla como área de endemicidad media, ha sufrido un lento y progresivo incremento en la incidencia de la enfermedad en los últimos lustros, lo que determinó la inclusión de un programa de Control en la Planificación del Ministerio de Salud Pública para el cuatrienio de 1962 a 1965.
