El papel de los PPLO

Abstract

A fin de captar bien la significación de la letras P.P.L.O., me permito un breve recuento histórico. Nocard y Roux1 fueron los primeros en aislar este género de microorganismo en los bóvinos atacados de píeuroneumonía. Desde entonces, han sido aislados numerosos organismos semejantes, primero en los animales y más tarde entre los humanos. Su parecido con el agente de la pleuro neumonía de los bóvidos les lia valido el nombre de P.P.L.O. que significa “Pleuro-Neumonia like organism”: (Organismos similares al de la Pleuro-Neumonía). Desde 1929, estos inicroorga nismos son conocidos y clasificados bajo el nombre de “Mycoplasma” aunque en la literatura numerosos autores utilizan todavía el nombre de P.P.L.O. Nos atendremos en el curso de esta exposición a su clasificación oficial.
