Abstract

La depresión podría ser enfocada como síntoma o como síndrome, si prescindimos de la nosología. Algunos autores estiman necesario ver a la depresión como un síntoma solamente, haciéndolo quizás sinónimo de hipotimia o tristeza y considerándolo como parte integrativa de varias entidades nosológicas tanto psiquiátricas como de las afecciones llamadas médicas y quirúrgicas. Sin embargo, en la práctica clínica tenemos que el enfoque debe de ser más amplio ya que con frecuencia la tristeza 110 se destaca como el síntoma más evidente.
