Introduction: The heart failure with fraction of preserved ejection associates to a high morbilidad and mortality. It is a clinical illness and very heterogeneous physiopathology that frequently associates to the overweight and the obesity. Objective: To evaluate the relationship between the overweight and the obesity with the mortality in patient with heart failure with fraction of preserved ejection. Methods: He/she was carried out a prospective observational analytic study of cohort in 101 patients assisted in the consultation of heart failure of the Hospital Ameijeiras. Was considered the probability of being free of death, by means of the employment of the method of Kaplan Meier. To evaluate the association among clinical variables and of presage in relation to the mortality the relative risk was determined. To evaluate the value presage of the overweight and the obesity in relation to the mortality, the pattern of regression of Cox was used.
Results: The patient overweight and obese, they showed higher survival than the normal-weigth group, Log Rank p = 0,045. The factors presage that prevailed in both groups went the biggest age to 70 years (80 % and 57,1), and to present two or more revenues (60 % and 71,4). In the pattern of regression of Cox the group of the overweights, an adjusted OR 0,259 showed; IC: 0,090 - 0,748 in relation to the mortality.
Conclusions: To present overweight showed to be a factor favorable presage to diminish the mortality, independently of the presence of other factors related with the presage.
