Introduction: Shock is an acute and progressive circulatory failure, potentially reversible, which causes tissue hypoxia, leading to anaerobic metabolism with the production of lactic acidosis, cell damage and death.
Objetive: This research was conducted with the aim of validating the CHOQUE prediction model in patients admitted to intensive care.
Methods: An explanatory research was conducted with a prospective cohort design, of a predictive model of CHOQUE, in 538 patients admitted to Intensive Care of the Hermanos Ameijeiras Clinical Surgical Hospital during the period from January 2017 to December 2022.
Results: In this research, elderly men with white skin color predominated. The predictive risk factors for CHOQUE were Ischemic Heart Disease, Diabetes Mellitus, albumin, SOFA and CHOQUE Index. The discrimination of the quantitative indicator in the validation sample was good. The discrimination of the model estimate was very good, as the area under the ROC curve was 0.889. The discrimination of the quantitative indicator in the validation sample was good 0.894 (95% CI: 0.841 – 0.947; p<0.001).
Conclusions: The predictive model was useful for predicting CHOQUE in patients admitted to intensive care.
