Abstract

Elephantiasis nostras verrucosa is a rare, chronic, and progressive complication caused by chronic lymphatic obstruction. It is characterized by enlargement of a body region with dermal and hypodermal fibrosis. This is a non-filarial chronic lymphedema that disfigures the limbs, predisposing the patient to recurrent infections and disabilities. We present the case of a patient with a history of decompensated hepaticcirrhosis and obesity, who developed elephantiasis nostras verrucosa as acomplication. The diagnostic and therapeutic approach used is discussed.
