Hemangiopericitoma de presentación atípica en región temporo maxilar en un adulto joven

Abstract

El hemangiopericitoma es un tumor vascular maligno infrecuente (1 %), propio de adultos entre los 40 y 60 años, aunque puede presentarse en cualquier edad. La presentación a nivel temporo maxilar es extremadamente baja. Se reporta el caso de un paciente masculino de 24 años de edad, tratado en el servicio de ncología del Hospital Nacional "Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen", con tiempo de enfermedad de aproximadamente 24 meses por presentar tumoración dolorosa a nivel temporal y maxilar de 7 cm y 12 cm respectivamente. Presenta mejoría al recibir tratamiento con radioterapia, quimioterapia con temozolamida, medicina hiperbárica y rehabilitación de los músculos de la boca. En cuanto a su evolución actual el paciente se encuentra en un secundarismo activo. Ante estos casos es necesario que el paciente realice control periódico por varios años por posible metástasis a órganos adyacentes; resaltar que al paciente no se le realizó extirpación quirúrgica, considerada tratamiento de elección para estos casos.
