Síndrome de reacción farmacológica con eosinofilia y síntomas sistémicos inducido por metildopa

Abstract

El síndrome de reacción farmacológica con eosinofilia y síntomas sistémicos, es una reacción farmacológica idiosincrásica poco frecuente y potencialmente mortal. Se presenta con exantema extenso, fiebre, linfadenopatía, alteraciones hematológicas (eosinofilia y / o linfocitosis atípica) y afectación de órganos internos. Se ha descrito en asociación con más de 50 fármacos. Hasta donde se conoce, la metildopa no se encuentra dentro de este grupo y en Cuba no se ha informado como causa de este síndrome en la literatura. Se describe un caso raro del síndrome de reacción farmacológica con eosinofilia y síntomas sistémicos en una mujer sometida a tratamiento con metildopa para hipertensión arterial, con importante mejoría con el tratamiento. Dado su uso generalizado, la naturaleza potencialmente mortal del síndrome y el curso temporal comúnmente retrasado en el establecimiento del diagnóstico, aunque es poco común, la metildopa puede ser una causa de este síndrome.
