Estudio comparativo entre el ultrasonido y la gammagrafía en enfermedades del tiroides

Abstract

Se estudiaron 13 pacientes que presentaban diversas enfermedades tiroideas, y que asistieron a la consulta externa de Endocrinología del Hospital "Comandante- Manuel Fajardo", a -los que se les realizó examen físico; ultrasonido y gammagrafía tiroidea: A 5 pacientes se les realizó biopsia a cielo abierto y en 4 se observó adenoma folicular y una tiroiditis de Hashimoto. Se encontró en 10 pacientes (76.92 %) un alto por ciento de relaciones entre ambas pruebas diagnósticas. En 3, (60%) a los que se realizó biopsias, se observó relaciones entre el ultrasonido, la gammagrafía y la histología tiroidea. En 7 pacientes (53,84 %) hubo coincidencia entre el cuadro clínico, la gammagrafía y el ultrasonido tiroideo. Se considera el ultrasonido en procedimiento diagnóstico útil, pero que no reemplaza a la gammagrafía en enfermedades tiroideas sobre todo nodulares. Se concluye que el ultrasonido es el método de elección en niños y mujeres embarazadas por la ausencia de efectos nocivos. Se destaca el valor del examen físico, que es determinante a pesar de las pruebas diagnósticas, ya que ninguna de las mismas son de alta fidelidad en enfermedades nodulares del tiroides.
