Resultados obtenidos después de tres meses de tratamiento con etambutol en enfermos tuberculosos ya muy tratados

Abstract

Ciento veintidós enfermos de arabos sexos del Hospital Antituberculoso de La Habana, (82 hombres y 40 mujeres) fueron sometidos a tratamiento utilizando etambutol y diversas drogas acompañantes. Se trata de un grupo de enfermos tuberculosos ya muy tratados y cuya gran mayoría tenía más de 10 años de evolución, algunos hasta más de 20. El trabajo presenta los logros alcanzados a los 3 meses del citado tratamiento, demuestra la magnífica tolerancia a la droga y señala la buena evolución clínica de los casos, así como la mejoría radiológica obtenida, expresada también en cifras. Según la experiencia, cuando se usan dosis adecuadas no son de temer las neuritis ópticas. Se pueden esperar muy altos por (•enlajes de conversión de esputos desde el primer mes, y al 3ro. Se señalan logros de un 77.4%. Se recomienda continuar el estudio hasta completar el año y se sugieren distintos empleos de la droga.
