Colestiramina y diarreas

Abstract

Se utilizó la colestiramina en 10 pacientes con resecciones de íleon terminal, en los cuales se hizo el diagnóstico de diarreas por ácidos biliares por exclusión. La dosis empleada fue de 12 gramos diarios en tres dosis,  disminuyendo progresivamente la misma hasta llegar a la dosis mínima que  mantuvo al paciente asintomátfco. En 6 pacientes las diarreas desaparecieron, en 3 mejoraron y en 1 no hubo respuesta. No se constató esteatorrea ni prolongación del tiempo de protrombina por el uso de la colestiramina. Las cifras medias de calcio aumentaron después del tratamiento, lo que probablemente esté relacionado con la disminución del número de diarreas y por tanto menor pérdida de calcio.
