Utilidad de la biopsia de tiroides por punción en el diagnóstico de las enfermedades de esta glándula

Abstract

Se analizan los resultados del estudio mediante biopsia por punción de tiroides hecho a 80 pacientes que presentaban aumento difuso de la glándula tiroides, y se encuentra que 35 (43,75%) presentaban tiroiditis crónica; 16 (20%), bocio coloide; en 6 pacientes se halló quiste tiroideo; y en 2 se tiene que destacar la presencia de un carcinoma folicular (2,5%), en edades de 37 y 46 años, respectivamente; en una de estas 2 pacientes, en la pieza obtenida mediante operación quirúrgica, se encontraron características histicas de tiroiditis crónica. En el resto de los pacientes se hallaron diferentes afecciones tiroideas, y en 8 (10%), la muestra obtenida no fue útil para el diagnóstico. Se considera que este es un proceder diagnóstico útil para determinar el origen de las enfermedades de la glándula tiroides.
