Nodulo y cáncer del tiroides y diabetes mellitus

Abstract

Se presentan los resultados obtenidos del estudio de 110 pacientes portadores de un nodulo solitario del tiroides, y se analiza la posible correlación entre esta entidad, la intolerancia a los carbohidratos y el cáncer en dicha glándula. Se señalan brevemente teorías y opiniones encontradas en la literatura médica, relacionadas con estos criterios. Se encuentra una alta incidencia de intolerancia a los carbohidratos, así como también algunas características en estos pacientes que parecen serles propias. En este grupo no se encontró correlación entre cáncer y diabetes en cuanto a frecuencia, pero sí la presencia del carcinoma de tiroides en los diabéticos en edades más tempranas. Se señala la posibilidad del origen genético de tipo inmunológico de lo anteriormente expresado.
